Healthy Season Delights

A graduate of the Natural Gourmet Institute, Chef Heidi DeCosmo will help participants try some new ways to incorporate tofu, tempeh, and local products into their diet.  Learn to create creamy soups utilizing whole grains.  Explore some options for purchasing local produce, honey and herbs.  The dishes will include Carrot Apple Ginger Soup, a fruit salad of Papaya, Blood Oranges, Grapefruit and Avocado tossed with Jicama, Toasted Pumpkin Seeds, and Pumpkin Citrus Vinaigrette, Grilled Eggplant Taco with Tempeh finished with Mango Pepper Jam Salsa, and Decadent Chocolate Truffle Mousse.  The workshop will be held at Mya’s Café, 428 Market St.

Watercolor Workshop

Join this year’s featured artist, Thomas Wise, to learn about the use of mono-chromatic watercolor to develop an under-painting for structure and form.  Tom Wise will give a demonstration of the use of mono-chromatic color to develop light and shade patterns in the beginning stage of the painting.  The workshop will consist of a demonstration, discussion, and student participation.
Participants must furnish their own supplies: watercolor paints, palette, brushes, water container, #2 pencil, eraser, and watercolor paper.  This workshop will be held at the Area Agency on Aging, 116 N. 2nd Street, Lewisburg.

Stage Makeup: Animals, Flowers, & Fantasy

An introduction to the world of stage makeup with Elaine Williams, Bucknell professor of Theatre and Dance.  Participants can bring a color photograph of an animal, butterfly, or flower, or choose one in the workshop.  Each makeup artist will design makeup inspired by the picture and their imagination and apply the design to the participant’s using the crème-based makeup provided.  For teenagers and up.  The workshop will be held at Bucknell’s Tustin Studio Theatre Dressing/Makeup Room on Bucknell University campus off River Road, entrance opposite the Gateways.

Butterflies and Hummingbirds. . . The Gems of the Garden

Do you want to experience the magic of hummingbirds and butterflies in your garden?  Keith Phelps, Manager of Country Farm & Home Gift and Garden Center in Mifflinburg, and featured guest on WNEP-TV’s Home & Backyard, will show you what it takes to provide the perfect habitat to attract and keep hummingbirds and butterflies in your garden.  Keith will address the subjects of plant choices and preferences, feeders, and containers to make your garden dance with these garden gems.  This workshop will be held at the Area Agency on Aging, 116 N. 2nd Street, Lewisburg.
