Photography Club Monthly Meeting: An Intro to Photography

The Lewisburg Photography Club will be having its first meeting in quite a while.  The following format will be used for the meeting.  The first 20 minutes will be for camera time.  Ask the group questions about your camera.  The next 10 minutes will be for review and feedback on the club and its mission.  30-45 minutes will be scheduled for the meeting’s presentation topic.  Finally, the remaining time will be used to review and/or critique photos from the previous meeting’s photo challenge.

For the Lewisburg Photo Club’s March meeting, it is encouraged to “Take a Photo” for the photo challenge.  It doesn’t need to be anything specific, just a photo.  Some ideas could be something green for St. Patrick’s Day, something that interests you, or something that represents you.  Be creative.  The last part of the meeting will be to show your photo and have you tell those in attendance a little about it, yourself, and what you hope to learn.  Photos can be emailed to photoclub@lewisburgartscouncil.com and should be sent at least 2 days before the meeting.

The topic for March’s meeting will be an intro to photography.  During the presentation, there will be a discussion on why photography, the equipment and terminology in photography, and printing/presenting a photo.  In the spirit of addressing all levels of experience, attendees are encouraged to “Bring What you Got”.  The intent is for those in attendance to bring the device they currently use to take photos and ask questions.  It can be anything from a cell phone to a point-and-shoot, a DSLR, or a mirrorless camera.

Participants are encouraged to bring whatever device they currently use to take photos — whether that’s a cell phone, point-and-shoot camera, DSLR, or mirrorless camera — for hands-on questions during “camera time.”

If they would like to participate in the photo challenge, they may also submit a photo in advance (by email at least 2 days before the meeting). Bringing a photo or camera is encouraged, but not required to attend.
