2023 Featured Artist: Jane Albin

Jane Albin is a watercolor artist who dabbles in many other mediums.  Her subjects range from still life to street scenes to portraits to landscapes. She likes to paint outdoors and in her studio.  She is learning to make digital art in Procreate and Adobe Illustrator.

Jane has been a featured artist for the Lewisburg Downtown Sidewalk Chalk Festival, and for the Linn Conservancy and Lewisburg Arts Council’s annual Plein air day at the Dale Engle Walker House.  She was an instructor of adult watercolor classes at the Sunbury Y Arts Center for nearly ten years.  She teaches workshops when she can.  One day a week she works at her favorite art supply store, Brushstrokes.

Jane, the daughter of a junior high art teacher, was raised in Windber, Pennsylvania. Jane is a graduate of Parsons School of Design in New York City.  She worked for 27 years in fashion production and design. She and her husband started and ran their own children’s clothing company, KatieCo Inc. for nearly 17 years.  Jane and Bob currently own and operate the Tawsty Flower and Haines Suites lodgings in Lewisburg, which they are looking to sell, so they can both pursue more artistic endeavors.

"Watercolors and oils are my preferred mediums, but I’ll try any art supplies. I like to record the people and places around me. I sketch nearly every day. Always have your sketchbook with you, especially when traveling.  I feel it is important to keep learning, challenging yourself and improving your craft. I’m learning Adobe Illustrator at my age!"
