Terri will get you started on these winter samplers and you’ll learn how to make the following stitches: satin, chain, stem, french knots, backstitch, whipped backstitch & the woven rose. Finishing techniques will also be covered with an opportunity to leave with a finished piece of art.

Teacher Bio

Terri Peterson learned the basics of embroidery from her grandmother, though it was decades between her initial introduction to embroidery and her current approach to it as a means of artistic expression.

Four or five years ago, Terri picked up her needles again and discovered the patience, joy, discipline, and therapeutic focus that steady embroidery practice can provide. After following patterns to a T to reintroduce herself to embroidery, Terri began to experiment with stitches, colors, and design elements. Now she produces her own patterns based off images found in various visuals like folk art, pop culture, and her own photography. She has spent time learning about standard needlepoint, cross stitch, crewel, and Elizabethan embroidery, and has got her eye on blackwork, goldwork, and Japanese embroidery to learn about for future works.

When Terri is not behind the needle and thread she is a photographer who has won several awards at local art shows, writes both professionally and as a hobby, is an enormous movie buff, and enjoys cooking.
