The Kratky Method of Growing Plants

The workshop will focus on the Kratky Method for growing plants either indoors or outdoors. Kratky is a method that uses a combination of hydroponics and aeroponics to grow a variety of plants. The plants are started from seed using a limited number of supplies and grown in a Mason Jar, or other food grade container. The Kratky Method is an easy and fun gardening approach for all ages. This workshop will demonstrate and explain the materials, resources, and methods for starting your own Kratky garden. We will focus on growing lettuces/greens.

Kim and Jeff Antolick – Kim and Jeff are health and outdoor enthusiasts who use a variety of techniques to grow healthy foods in their home. Being lifelong outdoor gardeners, Kim and Jeff decided to try new techniques to grow plants indoors during the winter seasons. This included sprouting, micor- greens, and most recently the Kratky Method.

Each participant would require a 2 quart Mason jar, nutrient growing solution, clay pebbles, coco coir, net pot, aluminum foil or paper bag to cover the jar, tape, as well as any seeds.

This workshop will be presented in the courtyard of The Gallery weather permitting.
