Photo Club – ‘Wildlife Photography’
New location!
Starting this month, Photo Club meets at our new home:
St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1050 Buffalo Road, Lewisburg.
Join us in October as our meeting topic turns to Wildlife! We’ll cover what it takes to capture animals at their best — choosing shutter speeds fast enough to freeze motion, using continuous autofocus to track a moving subject, getting sharp focus on the eyes, and how to make the most of a telephoto lens (or your phone’s zoom) without spooking your subject. We’ll also cover fieldcraft: patience, reading animal behavior, the best times of day to find wildlife, and shooting ethically so you don’t disturb the animals. Whether you’re photographing birds at a backyard feeder, a soaring eagle, deer at the edge of a field, or a squirrel in the park, you’ll have plenty of ideas to try on your next outing.
Photo Challenge:
This month’s photo challenge: put September’s Landscapes meeting into practice. Head outdoors and capture a landscape using one of the techniques we covered — leading lines, the rule of thirds, golden-hour light, or keeping the scene sharp from foreground to background.
Submit your photo to photoclub@lewisburgartscouncil.com at least 2 days before the meeting. We’ll display them for the group, and photographers will have a chance to share a little about their image—what drew them to the shot or how they captured it.
