Save These Dates!

Spring is just around the corner, and so is the Lewisburg Arts Council’s annual two-week Celebration of the Arts, which runs from Saturday, April 29, through Saturday, May 13.

We’ve filled these two weeks with opportunities and activities to inspire and delight you.  And, of course, don’t forget our biggest event of all: the Lewisburg Arts Festival!

Please mark your calendars and save these dates!

Lewisburg Arts Festival – Saturday, April 29

Lewisburg’s beautiful Market Street provides the backdrop for the area’s premier juried-artist show.  Artists’ booths featuring hand-crafted wares will delight your eye, while food vendors offering savory nibbles and tasty treats will tempt your tastebuds. Free entertainment and activities for children of all ages will add to the fun.  Park in the spacious lot at 101 Hafer Road, Lewisburg, (the former Country Cupboard lot), and take the free Festival Shuttle into town, courtesy of the Susquehanna River Valley Visitors Bureau.

Featured Artist Exhibit – April to May

This year’s Featured Artist – our first since 2018 – is Lewisburg artist Jane Albin.  To illustrate this year’s theme, “Spring Beauty,” we’ve selected two delicate watercolors Albin created during a previous Arts Council-sponsored Plein Air event.  See more of Albin’s work at her booth on Festival Day as well as at The Open Door by Lori at 430 Market Street during the two-week Celebration .

Photography Exhibition – Saturday, April 29 – Friday, May 12

The Photography Exhibition is back this year! The exhibition will be held at the Lewisburg Downtown Partnership and CommUnity Zone office (328 Market St) from April 29-May 12 with a reception and awards presentation on May 6.

Plein Air Workshop and Nature Photo Hike – Sunday, April 30

Find beauty in nature!  On Sunday, April 30, our popular Plein Air Day offers a full day of outdoor activity at one of the most idyllic locales in the area, the Dale-Engle-Walker property located 1.5 miles west of Lewisburg off Route 192.  The event features a plein air workshop, nature photo hikes along Dale’s Ridge Trail, time to sketch/paint/draw/photograph, and a “Show-and-Share” reception at the end of the day.  Participation in the Plein Air Workshop and Nature Photo Hike is free and open to the public, but registration is required. All registered participants will be invited to submit their work to the Plein Air Art Show held at the Public Library for Union County in June.

Workshops – April 30 – May 13

This year’s Celebration workshops will see the return of some fan favorites and a few new and exciting themes. Thanks to the generosity of Bucknell University, workshops are free, but registration is required.

Urban Sketching Day – Saturday, May 13

Beauty is always just around the corner in Lewisburg!  With your sketchbook in hand, you are invited to find and capture beauty in unexpected places.  Sketchers who register will receive an invitation to participate in the June Plein Air Show at the Public Library for Union County.

The Lewisburg Arts Council is extremely grateful to our Gold-level sponsors for underwriting the cost of key Celebration components: Hummel Station, LLC; Susquehanna River Valley Visitors Bureau; Evangelical Community Hospital; The Eye Center of Central PA; Susquehanna Community Bank; UPMC; and Bucknell University. Their generous contributions make it possible to offer these events and activities to the public for free. We are grateful to all our sponsors for their financial support.
