Fashion Sketching & Design

Learn how to draw the fashion figure starting from the basic understanding of proportion, body elements from head to toe, movement and posture to fashion poses with garments. Students will learn basic principles of design with a focus on line, color, shading, proportions and various views of the body, clothing details, and fabric textures. Come ready to learn a new skill or build on your current illustration knowledge.

Meet Your Instructor
Joanne Landis is a native New Yorker who moved to the mountains of Central Pennsylvania for the good life and a barn for a studio, an old farmhouse and a pond. Before becoming a figurative and narrative painter, Joanne worked as a fashion illustrator and designer in New York City and London, taught in the design department of the Fashion Institute of Technology (NYC) and Drexel University (Philadelphia). Joanne’s work has been shown in New York, Florida, California, and Pennsylvania, as well as with fellowships in Ireland and Germany.

These supplies will be provided at the workshop at no charge  (you’re also welcome to bring your own):

  • 6B pencils
  • 11×14 tracing pad
  • 11×14 marker pad
  • various markers
  • waterproof black markers

This workshop is free to attend, registration is required. Participants must be age 12+. Maximum 15 participants.
